Product Description


The 4006RZA Antenna is a 1-meter Ku-Band maritime VSAT antenna for SCPC, broadband, or hybrid networks. 4006RZA utilizes the same radome and antenna as the 4003. This antenna system meets the FCC’s 2-degree spacing requirement, which is a remarkable achievement for a 1-meter ring-focus antenna.

The antenna efficiency is better than 70% across the transmit and receive bands and is ideal for ocean going vessels that require “always-on” broadband satellite communications. The 4006RZA is suitable for file and image transfer, video conferencing, e-mail, Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), and database backup.

The Sea Tel 06 Series utilizes the DAC 2202 Antenna Control Unit. The DAC 2202 is a 19” rack mount unit (1.75” tall) featuring: (3) RS-232/422 Serial Ports; (1) full function M&C and (2) NMEA ports for heading, GPS input and modem compatible, reformatted GPS output; (1) Ethernet port allowing (2) full-function TCP/IP M&C ports; (1) multi-user HTML interface port for setting all DAC parameters and viewing the current DAC status; (1) UDP download port for updating software in the Comm Interface.

A1:
Use Lantronix Device Installer to perform the following steps:
 (Lantronix configuration software is included with delivery of 4003).

   a. From the Windows Desktop, double click on the Lantronix
      Device Installer 

   b. Click on the IP Button.

      i. In the Hardware Address box enter the Hardware Address
        from the label on the front of the Lantronix Device Server
        (ex. 00-20-4a-68-f3-68).

      ii. In the IP address box enter 192.168.0.32.

      iii. Click on the SET IP button. You will see the program
        search for existing IP, then assign the IP, and then ping
        the IP.When finished you will see “Assign IP Successful”
.        Click OK.

      iv. Click on the Back button to return to the Device Manager
         Menu.

   c. To double-check a successful IP Assign, click on the button
     that looks like a Satellite Dish. This will take you to a menu
     that will allow you to ping an address.
 
      i. Enter 192.168.0.32 in the IP Address box.

      ii. Click on the Satellite Dish Button (If successful you will see
        a reply message four times in the text box).

      iii. After successful ping, click on Back button to return to the
        Device Manager Menu.

   d. When you get back to the Device Manager Menu, click on Exit.
      **NOTE: THIS SECTION MUST BE PERFORED OR GPS INFO
        FROM ANTENNA WILL NOT BE FORWARED TO RCST**

   e. When you return to the Windows Desktop, double click on the
     Internet Explorer Icon.

   f. From the Internet Browser go to the address bar and input
     192.168.0.32, then hit GO, you should see the LANTRONIX
     Web Page come up (You should be in the Port Properties
     section).

   g. In the Port Properties change Speed from 9600 to 4800.

   h. Scroll down the page to the Dedicated Connection Section.
     Change the Local Port setting from 10001 to 3001.

   i.  Scroll up; in the menu on left side of screen, click on Update
     Settings to save changes (You should see the Lantronix
     re-boot).

   j.  Return to Internet Browser.

A2:
All configurations are done via a web interface to Netgear router. Perform the following steps to configure.

   a. From the Desktop, Open up Internet Explorer.

   b. In the Address Bar type in 192.168.0.1, then hit GO. When
     prompted, USERNAME is admin. & PASSWORD is password
     (This should open up the Setup Wizard). In the middle section,
     select NO, click on NEXT button (This will access the Basic
     Settings Menu).

   c. Scroll down to Internet IP Address.

      i. Select USE STATIC IP ADDRESS.

      ii. In IP ADDRESS, enter in WAN Side IP Address (This will be
        the address of the Gateway IP Address + 1. Example: If the
        Gateway IP Address is 10.0.158.164, the IP Address will be
        10.0.158.165). 

      iii. SUBNET, Enter in Subnet mask (provided by NOC).

      iv. GATEWAY IP, This is the IP Address assigned to RSCT
         (Provided by NOC).

      v.  Scroll down to Domain Name Server (DNS) Address. 

         1.Click on USE THESE DNS SERVERS.
         2.Enter addresses. (Provided by NOC)

      vi. Scroll down and click on Apply Button.

   d. Set the Port Forwarding information (THIS IS A VERY
     IMPORTANT STEP. IF NOT PERFORMED, GPS INFORMATION
     WILL NOT BE FORWAREDED TO THE RCST WHICH IS
     NEEDED TO OBTAIN TRANSMIT SYNC IN THE MARITIME
     MODE OF OPERATION)
 
   e. In the Left Screen, scroll down to PORT FORWARDING.

      1. Click on ADD CUSTOM SERVICE.
      2. Click on ENABLE BUTTON (On RP614v2).
      3. In SERVICE NAME enter GPS.
      4. In STARTING PORT enter 3001
      5. In STARTING PORT enter 3001.
      6. In ENDING PORT enter 3001.
      7. In SERVER IP ADD enter 192.168.0.32.
      8. Click on ADD Button (This will take you back to Port
         Forwarding Screen).
      9. Click APPLY Button (Should see UPDATING SETTINGS).
     10. In Left Screen, scroll down to and click LOGOUT.

     This completes Router Setup, go to Command Prompt and
     Ping Device to check proper communications

A3:
For users on the Satmex 5 (117W) an FTP session can be done to first download and then upload a file to the Advance Projects International NOC server. This is a password-protected session and is restricted to users with an IP block assigned from API. See FTP Instructions on how to perform speed test.

A4:
The Sea Tel Service Department does not support configuring or
troubleshooting VPN connections, however the 4003 w/ the Edge Access BB400 has been tested using Microsoft PPTP Client with the VPN server landside.

A5:
Yes, testing is performed by Seavey Engineering Associates, Inc. and a PDF copy of the 4003 Range Test Report No. 0428-701 is available for download.

The iDirect Netmodem Install CD contains information and software to aid in commissioning and troubleshooting of the 4003/4006 VSAT system. For detailed instructions on how to install software, click here.
